Cyclone

Narrator：This is the story about the adventures of a little girl named Dorothy. She lived in the midst of the great, great Kansas prairie with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, who was a farmer. Their house was one room with a small hole in the ground beneath the floor, which was a cyclone cellar, where the family could be safe in case one of those great whirlwinds arose.
Narrator：Aunt Em and Uncle Henry never laughed, but Dorothy did, and her little black dog Toto. Toto played all day and Dorothy played with him. Today, however, they weren't playing. Uncle Henry looked anxiously at the sky, which was greyer than usual. There was a low wail of wind.
Uncle Henry：“Cyclone's coming in. I'll go look after the cattle. You and Dorothy get in the cellar there.”
Narrator：But Toto wiggled out of Dorothy's arms and ran to hide under the big bed.

Dorothy ran after him.

Dorothy：“Toto, come here.”
Narrator：Oh, Dorothy was too late. There was a great shriek from the wind and the house shook so hard that Dorothy fell down on the floor.
Aunt Em：“Dorothy! Dorothy!”
Narrator：And then, a strange thing happened. The house rose slowly in the air.
Dorothy：“Toto, it' s like we're going up in a balloon.”
Narrator：Slowly Dorothy got over her fright and after a while she crawled over to her bed.
Dorothy：“Oh, Toto, I'm so sleepy.”
【Sound of the wind.】
Narrator：And soon Dorothy and her little dog were fast asleep.

桃樂絲：「托托，過來。」

旁白：哦，桃樂絲晚了一步。一陣風吹過發出尖銳的呼嘯聲，房子搖晃得太厲害，害桃樂絲跌倒在地板上。

艾姆嬸嬸：「桃樂絲！桃樂絲！」

旁白：就在此時，奇怪的事發生了。房子竟悠悠緩緩地升上天空。

桃樂絲：「托托，我們好像坐氣球升空了。」

旁白：漸漸地，桃樂絲克服了她的驚駭，過了一會兒，她爬到床上。

桃樂絲：「哦，托托，我好睏。」
