　　想要完全看懂哈利波特，需要一點聯想力。

 

　　雖然已經有多位讀者表示，他們念完第一集已能


看懂英文版，但我還是繼續寫一些讀英文書的 tips.

　　看哈利波特原文書，需要一點聯想力。


　　因為作者羅琳自創了不少新字，乍看之下好像

是生字，但其實不然。只要具有相當程度的英文基

礎，一看就能看懂這些新字。或是，有些字似乎長

了腳，有動作，你要在腦海裡浮現那個動作，也就

是說，看書的時候，腦海裡同時浮現想像的畫面。

　　如："Chamber of Secrets" 這本書其中幾段：


　　October arrived, spreading a damp chill 

over the grounds and into the castle.

　　十月降臨，（好像有一隻手）撒下又濕又冷的

寒氣......
　

　　Madam Pomfrey, the nurse, was kept

busy by a sudden spate of colds among the

staff and students. Her Pepperup potion

worked instantly, though it left the drinker

smoking at the ears for several hours afterward.

　　辣椒湯（Pepperup potion）不就是我們的薑母

湯嗎？

　　中文裡有「氣得七竅生煙」這個形容詞，當然

不是真的七竅生煙。但，羅琳筆下真的生起煙來了，

辣椒湯一喝下肚，兩耳開始冒煙冒得強強滾了......


　　Ginny Weasley, who had been looking

pale, was bullied into taking some by Percy.

The steam pouring from under her vivid

hair gave the impression that her whole head

was on fire.

　　整個頭都在冒煙，這幅畫面真會讓人以為，她的

頭著火，燒起來了......


　　有了一些聯想力，閱讀備加愉悅，跟看電影是

不一樣的體驗。
